Cancellation Policies
Any booking can be canceled and fully refunded within 24 hours of the booking payment. There are 2 types of cancellation on boatUnity. 1/ The cancellation for weather-related reasons if the owner offers the "Weather Warranty" and 2/ The cancellation for personnal reasons. In the second type of cancellation, boatUnity allows owners to choose among three standardized cancellation policies (flexible, moderate, and strict) to protect both renters and owners alike. Each listing and reservation on our site will clearly state the cancellation policy. While cancelling a booking, renters may review any penalties by viewing their travel plans and then clicking « Cancel » on the appropriate reservation.
Flexible: Full refund 1 day prior to arrival, except fees
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the renter did not start the trip.
- The boatUnity service fee is non-refundable.
- If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to boatUnity within 24 hours after the trip started.
- boatUnity will mediate when necessary, and will do its best to reach an agreement and resolve the situation.
- A reservation is officially canceled when the renter clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Dashboard > Your Trips > Cancel.
- Insurance fee will be refunded only if the cancellation occurs before the check-in date. The renter have to deal with boatUnity to get the insurance amount.
- Captain fee will be refunded only if the cancellation occurs before the check-in date.
- Cancellation policies may be superseded by the Weather Warranty under the conditions that the 1/ the owner offers it and 2/ the renter subscribed to it.
- Taxes, if applicable, will be retained and remitted.

Example
For a full refund from the owner, cancellation must be made at least a full 24 hours prior to listing’s local trip start time (or 3:00 PM if not specified). For example, if trip-start is on Friday, cancel by Thursday of that week before the trip start time. The service fee will not be refunded unless the renter cancels within the free cancellation period for their reservation.
If the renter cancels less than 24 hours before trip-start, the first day is non-refundable.
If the renter arrives and decides to leave early, the days not spent 24 hours after the official cancellation are 100% refunded.
Moderate: Full refund 5 days prior to arrival, except fees
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the renter did not start the trip.
- The boatUnity service fee is non-refundable.
- If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to boatUnity within 24 hours after the trip started.
- boatUnity will mediate when necessary, and will do its best to reach an agreement and resolve the situation.

Example
For a full refund from the owner, cancellation must be made five full days prior to listing’s local trip start time (or 3:00 PM if not specified). For example, if trip-start is on Friday, cancel by the previous Sunday before trip start time. The service fee will not be refunded unless the renter cancels within the free cancellation period for their reservation.
If the renter cancels less than 5 days in advance, the first day is non-refundable but the remaining days will be 50% refunded.
If the renter arrives and decides to leave early, the days not spent 24 hours after the cancellation occurs are 50% refunded.
Strict: 50% refund up until 1 week prior to arrival, except fees
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the renter did not start the trip.
- The boatUnity service fee is non-refundable.
- If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to boatUnity within 24 hours after the trip started.
- boatUnity will mediate when necessary, and will do its best to reach an agreement and resolve the situation.

For a 50% refund, cancellation must be made seven full days prior to listing’s local trip start time (or 3:00 PM if not specified) on the day of trip start, otherwise no refund. For example, if trip-start is on Friday, cancel by Friday of the previous week before trip start time. The service fee will not be refunded unless the renter cancels within the free cancellation period for their reservation.

If the renter arrives and decides to leave early, the days not spent are not refunded.
Super Strict 30 Days: 50% refund up until 30 days prior to arrival, except fees
- Note: The Super Strict cancellation policy applies to special circumstances and is by invitation only.
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the guest did not trip start.
- The boatUnity service fee is non-refundable.
- If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to boatUnity within 24 hours of trip-start.

Long Term: First month down payment, 30 day notice for lease termination
- Note: The Long Term cancellation policy applies to all reservations of 28 nights or more.
- Cleaning fees are always refunded if the guest did not trip start.
- The boatUnity service fee is non-refundable.
- If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to boatUnity within 24 hours of trip-start.

Example
If the renter books a long term rent and decides to cancel the long term agreement before the start date, the first payment is paid to the owner in full.
If the renter books a long term rent and decides to cancel the long term agreement during their trip, the renter must use the online alteration tool in order to agree to a new trip finish date. Regardless of the trip finish date chosen, the renter is required to pay the owner for the 30 days following the cancellation date, or up to the end date of the renter's original reservation if the remaining days of the original reservation is less than 30 days.
