I'm a renter. How can I book a boat?
When you're looking to book a boat, you're essentially planning a trip aboard someone else's boat. Each boat owner has their sensitivities, particularly in how they prefer to interact with potential renters. Some owners prefer to manually approve bookings (Booking Request), while others accept instant bookings without requiring prior approval, but here are the steps you need to follow regardless of the booking types :
1. Complete Your Profile:
Regardless of the owner's preference, boatUnity is a community built on trust. So, it's essential to complete your profile before requesting a booking, allowing boat owners to have an idea of who you are when they confirm your reservation. Make sure your profile is verified and includes photos because some owners require renters to have a profile picture or verified identification to secure a booking.
2. Find the Ideal boat:
Given the number of boats available for booking, choosing the ideal boat or captain based on your needs is crucial for your adventure. When searching for a boat, don't forget to enter your travel dates and the number of passengers to get the appropriate rates. Take the time to read reviews, boat descriptions, captain's rules, and onboard amenities for each boat to determine if they meet your needs. If you have questions about a specific boat, feel free to contact the owner via our secure messaging system.
3. Book the boat:
You've found the perfect boat, and it's now time to finalize your booking. The process depends on the owner's preferred booking method (Booking Request or Instant Booking), which determines how you'll confirm your reservation.
4. Payment and Confirmation:
Whether you're booking through "Booking Request" or "Instant Booking," we'll ask for your payment details to secure your reservation.
- In the case of "Booking Request", at this point, you've reviewed your reservation details to ensure everything is correct, added your payment information, including any discount codes you may have, and accepted the terms of use, including the owner's cancellation policy and boat rules. You now need to wait for the owner's response. The owner has 24 hours to respond, but most respond within a few hours. Some owners require you to complete the verified identity verification process before confirming a booking, which allows them to get more information about the people traveling on their boat. Your payment method will not be charged until the owner has accepted your booking. Once accepted, you'll be charged in full for the reservation. We'll process your payment and send you a confirmation email that includes your receipt and travel details. If you don't receive a response within 24 hours, your request will automatically expire, and no charges will be incurred. Similarly, if the owner declines your booking request, no charges will be made, allowing you to consider other boats or captains for the same dates.
- In the case of "Instant Booking", your reservation will be instantly confirmed, and we'll process your payment immediately.
