What are the steps to rent or co-sail a boat on boatUnity?
Are you looking to co-sail with a boat owner or searching for a boat rental? You've come to the right place. boatUnity has streamlined the process for you in 4 easy steps.
1/ Find your boat and its captain
At this point, you're on the brink of creating unforgettable memories. All it takes is to locate your ideal boat and your adventure partners or co-navigators by inputting your destination and trip dates into the search bar.
Thanks to the listing photos, owner profiles, and reviews from other members, you can choose the boat and/or captain that best suits your expectations from the available listings. You can also use filters to refine your search and find the perfect boat for your adventure.
2/ Create your account and make the reservation
To create a boatUnity account, click on Sign Up on the top right of any pages of boatUnity. You can create an account by email or through Facebook or Google. We recommend signing up with your email address as this will allow you to change the email or the password on your account later on. If you sign up through Facebook or Google, your boatUnity account will be linked to your Facebook/Google account, and you will not be able to change the email or password on your boatUnity account in the future.
If you are already a user of boatUnity and want to see or edit your profile, click on Log in on the top right corner of any pages of boatUnity's website.
boatUnity guarantees that complete names or contact details are not revealed on your public profiles. You can rest assured that your information remains secure.
Once you've completed your profile to give owners insight into the type of renter/co-sailor you are, you can initiate the booking process by clicking on the 'Contact Owner' or 'Request to Book' buttons. Alternatively, you can use 'Instant Book' for immediate confirmation without waiting for owner approval. (To learn more about each booking type, please refer to the corresponding section in our help center.)
3/ Meet your co-navigating captain or the boat owner
- Asking questions before booking an excursion: As you browse the boatUnity plateforme, you will be able to see the different listings. Should any details appear unclear within these listings, you have the option to reach out to the boat owners directly or submit booking requests for your desired trip dates. Once your request is accepted and any relevant inquiries have been addressed, you can assess whether the rental meets your requirements. Subsequently, you can either confirm the booking or decline requests for boats that don't align with your needs.
- Communicating with the captain / boat owner when you already have a booking: Upon confirmation of your booking, We'll send you an email containing your trip itinerary, receipt, and the owner's contact information. You can also access your reservation details, make adjustments to your plans, or cancel your reservation through the "My Trips" section on your personal account page. You can use boatUnity's messaging system to coordinate with the boat owner to arrange the starting time of your trip or key pick-up for example. You can also ask questions about the boat and the captain's rules, get directions for the excursion, receive instructions for pick-up and return, send photos, and discuss any issues that may arise during an excursion. To send a message to the captain, or view your message history, select the relevant trip in the “my trip” tab. Choose contact the captain or respond to captain's messages by opening the Inbox tab.
- Communication during your trip : In case of a booking without captain, should any issues arise during your trip, don't hesitate to reach out to the boat owner. In most cases, they will be best equipped to assist you. If, for any reason, the owner cannot resolve the problem, please contact us for further assistance.
4/ Evaluate your experience
Sharing is caring. Once your journey is complete, share your experience with the other members of boatUnity by leaving a review about the boat owner / captain and his boat. This valuable input helps future renters learn from your experience. You review will evaluate the following criteria:
- Overall satisfaction level
- Listing accuracy
- Boat maintenance
- Welcome and communication
- Onboard comfort and cleanliness
- Value for money
The boat owner will also have an opportunity to provide feedback about his experience with you. Take advantage of this to build up your reputation for your next adventure.
