What is the difference between commission and service fees
When making a reservation, whether for co-sailing or renting, you may encounter two types of fees: the boatUnity commission and the boatUnity service fees.
It is important to understand the distinction between these two elements, but as an owner/captain, commissions are the ones that concern you.
- The commission is borne by the owner/captain and corresponds to a portion of the income generated from renting your boat on our platform. The price displayed on boatUnity and paid by the renter at the time of booking includes the rental cost as well as the commission. This commission contributes to the services we provide to facilitate and support your boat rental activities. It covers the expenses associated with hosting, promoting, and enhancing the visibility of your listing on our platform and enables us to provide you with efficient management tools and dedicated customer support.
- Service fees concern you less, but for informational purposes, they are borne by the renter/co-sailor when making a reservation on our platform. These fees are intended to cover the costs of transaction processing, payment protection, and provision of services such as customer service, and listing visibility when needed.
